Benzino issued a public apology to Coi Leray after blasting a possible collaboration with Nicki Minaj.
24-year-old Coi Leray rose to prominence in the music industry after releasing her viral single “No More Parties” in 2021, later adding Chicago’s own Lil Durk to the single and releasing the music video. The song has racked up over 76 million views on YouTube and made people want to know more about the trendy superstar.
Since then, Coi has continued to make music with hits like TWINNEM, At the Top, BIG PURR feat. Pooh Shiesty and more released. While Coi Leray has a steady run in her music career, the New Jersey native is preparing to release her much-anticipated debut album.
While the album is still in the works, fans are trying to figure out which artist will be guesting on the new album. Following a series of events yesterday, fans may now have an idea after Coi’s father Benzino may have spilled the beans.
“She has the song with Nicki Minaj that’s going to come out that’s going to go crazy,” Benzino said in a room in the clubhouse. When the media got wind of the collaboration, so many were smitten with the singer before Nicki Minaj addressed the rumor that she has no upcoming collaboration with anyone. “I have no association with anyone. Onika mode. I love you,” Nicki wrote on her Instagram story.
Clearly frustrated by her father’s actions, Coi Leray took to social media to address his claims. She explained that she advises her father to take a back seat in her career and let her take the helm. “When people yelped in the clubhouse he felt like he had to defend himself but I had to tell my dad he’s an OG and he was super-super tall at the time and everyone knows my dad is an OG. He has to play the back gracefully,” she began. “Now it’s my turn. It’s my turn, dad. You gotta friggin’ sit down, get some popcorn, enjoy the show, and clap for me when it’s clap for me time. All right, dad?”
Although the singer vents her frustration, it’s good to see the two well after their online feud early in the singer’s career. “He’s going to make it difficult for me every time. He’s not going to let anyone talk crazy about me or anything,” she added. “I think it was a situation where people were yapping in the clubhouse and he felt like he had to defend himself.”
