Kyrie Irving is now the newest NBA player to be thrown something in a week. The Brooklyn Nets defeated the Boston Celtics 141-126 and went 3-1 in a row. After the win, Irving stepped on the Celtics logo in midfield. He and his teammates then headed for the tunnel when a water bottle nearly hit the Nets point guard.
The fan was later seen in handcuffs, arrested and apparently banned from the TD Garden for life for his actions.
Irving played with the Celtics two seasons ago and didn’t part in the best way. Still, Irving didn’t deserve to be thrown at him with anything. This most recent incident happened just last week after three situations were healed.
Russell Westbrook was held back after a fan showered him with popcorn in Game 2 in Philadelphia. A Knicks fan spat on Trae Young in Madison Square Garden. The Utah Jazz also banned three fans for allegedly making racist statements against Ja Morant’s family.
The NBA may need to set an example for a fan if it continues to do so at this pace.
