Franklin Saint’s story draws to a close. snowfall has been renewed for the sixth season, which will also be the last. Snowfall is currently in his fifth season at FX. The main role in the series is played by Damson Idris.
The current season’s opener begins with Len Bias’ overdose and the impact it had on Franklin’s family, putting them in the crosshairs of the Los Angeles Police Department’s Drug Enforcement Squad. At the same time, the family implodes, trying not to turn against each other.
“I couldn’t imagine telling this story anywhere other than at FX,” Idris said in a statement diversity. “I’m incredibly proud of the history we’ve all made. Especially the influence of ‘Snowfall’ has worked on the culture. Very rarely does a TV show reach its sixth season, and saying goodbye to Franklin Saint will be heartbreaking. But the family and relationships I’ve forged on this journey will last a lifetime. I know John Singleton is looking down smiling proudly.”
“FX first teamed up with legendary writer-director John Singleton and the rest of the creative team six years ago to bring their vision of an ambitious, powerful drama about the explosion of the early ’80s crack epidemic to fruition,” said Nick Grad, President of Original Programming at FX. “Today, as ‘Snowfall’ Season 5 reaches new heights of recognition and viewership, there is no question that this series has become a classic FX drama. We are excited to order a sixth season which will allow Dave Andron, Walter Mosley and the other producers to bring Snowfall to a grand finale that showcases the brilliance of everyone involved, from the all-star cast led by Damson Idris down to the writers, directors, artists and crew.”
The current season ends on April 20th.
