Angela & Vanessa Simmons are no strangers to the spotlight. In addition to being hip-hop kings, the Simmons sisters have established themselves as entrepreneurs and reality stars. In 2007 they founded the fashion and sneaker brand Pastry.
The shoe brand’s success was even praised by Jay-Z in his Grammy-winning song “New York State of Mind” starring Alicia Keys. If you’re from NYC, there is a Co sign from Hov alone on Mount Rushmore of the Co signs.
Although they would be leaving the company in 20212, Vanessa recently returned as creative director. Upon their return, the Pastry brand launched two new partnerships with Sugar Factory, Steven Tyler’s Janie’s fund, which gives back and supports abused girls. Every shoe Pastry sells is made for this purpose.
“We believe that everyone should live their life to the full, regardless of the trauma they face,” said Simmons. “Pastry is proud to stand by this cause.”
On the flip side, Angela is focused on her skincare brand, Simmons Beauty.
“One of my favorite things to do at the end of the day is coming home, wiping my face and washing,” says Angela.
Simmons Beauty celebrated its 1 year anniversary.
In the latest season of Growing Up Hip-Hop, the audience explores each performer’s life after the quarantine.
The world is introduced to Angela’s ex-Boxerbae Daniel Jacobs. The relationship takes a turn and the two split up. From there, Angela faces public scrutiny over the pop-up relationship, motherhood, and a number of entrepreneurial ventures like Simmons Beauty. Vanessa also balances family life with her long-time boyfriend Mike Wayans and her daughter.
As the oldest sibling of Simmons, Vanessa is a mother figure to both Angela and Jojo. In fact, Vanessa was the last to meet Angela’s boyfriend at the time. It is safe to conclude that the waiting time is no longer a factor.
Whether they’re starting a family or running a successful business, you can watch the Simmons sisters every Thursday on WeTV’s Growing Up Hip-Hop every Thursday at 9:00 p.m. ET / 8:00 p.m. CT.
