HipHopVision |EW Brooks scores victory over Damon Dash and Poppington as ‘Mafietta photo case’ dismissed

The United States Federal Judge, the Honorable Jed Rakoff, has dismissed the revenge lawsuit filed by Damon Dash’s girlfriend, Raquel Horn, and Dash’s company, Poppingtion LLC. Dash and Horn prosecuted copyright infringement against author EW Brooks in the Southern District of New York.

“The frivolous attempt by Dash’s company and Ms. Horns to hold Ms. Brooks liable for copyright infringement was summarily dismissed,” said Christopher Brown of Brown & Rosen LLC. “Ms. Suing Brooks for using her own Mafietta movie images as Mafietta book covers was pretty stupid.”

In April 2021, Dash and Poppington LLC were ordered to pay the author, creator and owner of “Mafietta” EW Brooks the sum of $300,000.00 for their illegal andunauthorizedStreaming her film at Damon Dash Studios. Dash sought revenge in the recent lawsuit, which was dismissed by the court.

“Despite the actions of Damon Dash, I am proud to announce that Mafietta 2 will be filming from June 28th to July 6th, 2022 in Atlanta, Ga. Claudia Jordan (Cocktails with Queens/Fox Soul, star of the movie “Dear Frank”) and Willie Taylor of “Day 26” (and the “Chocolate City” film series) will star in “Mafietta 2” and play the lead roles. I will continue to make my dreams come true.”
