Issa Rae and HER lead the pack at the 53rd NAACP Image Awards.
Issa Rae, Regina King and Jennifer Hudson are the leading contenders for the film categories at this year’s NAACP Image Awards.
The nominees were announced Tuesday, and Issa Rae’s HBO series Insecure and Netflix Black Western The Harder They Fall topped the list with 12 nominations each.
Regina King stars in The Harder They Fall and is also nominated for Entertainer of the Year. Jennifer Hudson is also nominated for Entertainer of the Year, and her film Respect has six nominations.
Singer-songwriter HER took the lead with 6 nominations. These include Best Artist nominations, Best Album for Back of My Mind, Best R&B Album, Song of the Year for Fight For You and more.
Behind HER with four nominations each are Chlöe, Drake, Silk Sonic and Jazmine Sullivan.
This year’s list included 83 categories for recording, film, television and streaming, documentaries, directing, podcasts, literature and writing.

The 53rd NAACP Image Awards will be hosted by Anthony Anderson live on BET on Saturday, February 26 at 8pm ET/PT.
The NAACP will honor winners in the non-televised categories February 21-25, with those ceremonies to be streamed on NAACPImageAwards.net.
