The New Orleans Saints reportedly won’t be playing games at home in September. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Saints manager Sean Payton said Tuesday the team would be away from New Orleans as the city recovers from Hurricane Ida.
The Saints were scheduled to face the Green Bay Packers in New Orleans in Week 1. This game will not take place as planned, although the NFL has not yet announced an alternative location for the matchup.
Entergy said over 888,000 Louisiana customers were without power after the hurricane, including the vast majority of New Orleans. If the Saints return home by October 1, their first home game would be their fourth week against the New York Giants.
In the meantime, the Saints were training in Dallas at AT&T Stadium, home of the Dallas Cowboys. No word yet from the league whether the Saints will continue to practice there.
