Netflix has announced the next round Squid Game. On Sunday, the streaming giant announced that the record-breaking Korean drama has officially been given the green light for a second season.
The series creator also released a statement on the renewal, which reads, “It took 12 years to bring the first season of ‘Squid Game’ to life last year. But it took 12 days for Squid Game to become the most popular show of all time.”

That tweet also includes a preview of some new characters for fans of the show to expect.
“The man in the suit with Ddakji might be back. You will also meet Young-hee’s friend Cheol-su.”
Last year, Netflix announced that the show had one point 65 billion views in its first 28 days to become the most-watched series of all time in English or non-English.
In an interview with Vanity Fair last month, the show’s creator said the second season may not premiere until late 2023 or even 2024.
Netflix has not confirmed or announced a broadcast date.
