Luka Doncic did not disappoint on his Olympic debut. Doncic scored 48 points in 31 minutes. The total score is the second highest ever in an Olympic game as it narrowly missed the 55 points scored by the Brazilian Hall of Fame Oscar Schmidt in 1988. Doncic also had 11 rebounds and 5 assists to help Slovenia achieve a 118-100 win over Argentina.
After the game, Mavericks owner Mark Cuban sent out a tweet praising Doncic.
Doncic had 17 points in the first quarter. For the record, the Olympic basketball districts are only 10 minutes long. With no other NBA player on the roster, Doncic did most of the work for his team. Doncic’s appearance drove Twitter crazy.
Doncic is now a perfect 14-0 in international competition with Slovenia. Is a gold medal in his future? Only time will tell if that is the case.
