Ashy Larry got a new job in comedy.
Well-known stand-up comic, actor, Dave Chappelle’s best friend Donnell Rawlings Behind the scenes, he will be named senior content advisor for black comedy streaming channel Unnecessary Humor TV – a subsidiary of Vyre Network and Capo Verde Capital – Vyre announced in a company press release on Tuesday (December 28).

In the new role, Rawlings, 53, will advise on the curation of entertaining film and television series content, skits, live-stream comedy shows and branding partnerships. “I’m excited to partner with a platform that will allow me to leverage my 25 years of comedy experience with the 25 biggest comedy names,” Rawlings said in a press release.
Prior to Unnecessary Humor TV, the 30-year-old comedy veteran received praise for his edgy material, comedic timing and undeniable acting. A native of Washington, DC, has performed stand-up around the world, best known for his memorable characters Ashy Larry, Beautiful and Faze Z as starring on Dave Chappelle’s classic sketch comedy show. Chapelles show, and oh, the creator of the popular catchphrase “son!” and “I’m rich, biaaaaatch !.” Rawlings recently appeared in the new Starz franchise BMF.

Unnecessary Humor TV was launched in 2019 by founders and owners Lamar Seay and David Hill as one of 18 genre-oriented channels including Music, LGBTQ, Sports and Espanol with a range of black-centered films available on the black streaming platform, Vyre Network, start the same day. Vyre is available in more countries than streaming giants Netflix and Hulu. Last month, Vyre Network was acquired by Capo Verde Capital Inc, a company in development, for an undisclosed amount
In related news, Vyre Network signed a landmark deal with the Women’s National Football Conference (WNFC) last September that allows the streaming service to exclusively broadcast the entire package of women’s football games. The historic deal with WNFC runs until 2026 and is worth $ 1.5 million. “This is a big step in the right direction not just for women, but for football, television and equality in general,” said Seay of the new deal. “Soon the pipeline from youth football to college to a professional tackle career will be a clear path for women and men alike.”
