Last night, National Women’s Basketball Players Association Managing Director, Terry Jackson was interviewed on Comedy Central The daily News With Trevor Noah. Jackson spoke to Trevor about Brittney Griner, who has been incarcerated in Russia for five months.
The Phoenix Mercury star entered a guilty plea over a week ago, saying she “didn’t want to break the law.” The guilty plea serves as a precondition for consideration of a negotiated release and possible prisoner swap between Russia and the US

Griner faces up to 10 years in prison because of the large-scale drug transport. Less than 1% of defendants in Russian criminal cases are acquitted, which can be overturned.
Jakson explains why the WNBA was told not to publicly respond or comment when Griner was first arrested. She also shared comments that many people feel Griner is being used as a political pawn.
