A soft and pretty Valentine’s Day makeup in burnt orange and rust by YSL Beauty

Good morning everyone! Today I want to show you how to create a very soft and pretty Valentine’s Day makeup look using my favorite shades of orange and rust. While these particular colors might not be the first thing that comes to mind when thinking about romantic makeup, I personally think they look very beautiful and elegant when paired together, but let me get into that comments, I’d love to hear your opinion!

To create this look, I used my Holy Grail favorites from YSL Beauty. If you follow me regularly I’m sure you’ll recognize more than a few because I just can’t stop talking about them, but there are a few new additions that I’d like to share with you.

For me, every makeup look starts with the perfect base. If you haven’t tried the new yet NU BARE LOOK TINT I can only recommend YSL Beauty! It’s not like any other face tint I’ve ever tried. Although it has light to medium coverage, it does a great job of covering imperfections and redness, but what I love most is the finish. To describe it, I’d say it creates a natural-looking glow that’s not dewy or shiny (I have combination skin, so I’m not a fan of super dewy finishes). The kind of glow your skin would naturally have so it doesn’t look like you’re wearing heavy makeup. I used shade number 6 (light with cool undertones).

After that I used mine TOUCHE ÉCLAT ALLOVER BRIGHTENING PEN just under my eyes and at the corners of my lips (nice little trick if you want to lift the corners of your mouth). This has been my favorite concealer for years and I haven’t found anything that works even remotely the same! I love the coverage and I love the natural glow it gives the skin. I used the shade 2.5 Luminous Vanilla (for light to fair complexions with warm undertones).

I have a little secret I want to share with you guys… I don’t always wear blush or bronzer. let me explain. I usually like to pick a single focal point, in this case it’s the eyes, and keep the rest of the face a little more subtle. the NU BARE LOOK TINT already gave my skin a gorgeous glow so I decided against blush or bronzer and added some shine to the highlights of my face TOUCHE ÉCLAT 3D ALL OVER GLOW POWDER.

the TOUCHE ÉCLAT 3D ALL OVER GLOW POWDER is a fairly new discovery for me, and it’s unlike any highlighting powder I’ve ever tried. It doesn’t sparkle or shimmer, doesn’t accentuate texture and gives the face the most magical kind of glow. Most importantly, it looks beautiful and natural in real life.

I wanted the eyes to be the focus of this look, so I applied SATIN CRUSH MONO EYESHADOW in shade 05 Radical Rust – a beautiful burgundy/rust color on my upper lid and under my lower lash line. I like a slightly elongated eye shape, so I extended the shadow past the corner of the eye and winged it towards the brow. This technique helps to visually lift the eye and create an illusion of the cat’s eye shape. Next I applied MONO EYESHADOW WITH SEQUINS CRUSH in a shade 6 Confident Nude – a beautifully shimmering burnt orange shade on my lower lash line and inner corners of my eyes (I’ve extended it just past the inner corner, I’d say 1/3 of the eye) to add dimension and shine give this look. I finished the eye makeup with 2 layers RADICALLY VOLUMIZING MASCARA.

I wanted to finish off this look with soft, glossy lips, so I usedROUGE VOLUPTÉ SHINE LIPSTICK BALM in shade 153 Rose Dentelle over a nude lipstick. I’m a big fan of soft pinks in general, but this particular shade is just gorgeous! Soft and pretty, it gives your lips the perfect pop of color that looks stunning day or night. The formula is incredibly comfortable to wear (it’s not sticky at all, which I love) and it’s super moisturizing, leaving your lips feeling nice and hydrated. I have a few different shades and am always adding more to my collection because I love the way my lips look and feel.
