Chris Brown calls for cap on Michael Jackson comparisons
For years, the internet has tried to compare the two superstars’ talents, with some even suggesting that Chris is better than the King of Pop.
But while some fans might argue otherwise, Chris is shutting down the comparisons. “That’s the cap,” he replied immediately when Big Boy broached the subject during an interview to promote his new album Airy.
When asked how he was handling the talks, he replied: “I’m staying out of it. I will keep it a hundred. I’m kind of holding back.”
He gave props to his idol for inspiring him and said that he will never be able to compete. “My personal take on this is that if it weren’t for this man, I couldn’t even breathe or even sing a song,” he said. “I don’t know if they see it as a Jordan-Kobe thing, but I couldn’t even see it. He’s light years ahead. There is no competition with him.”
Chris revealed that he “has shrines of this man in my house,” adding, “Damn no, I’m no better than him.”
The CB-MJ debate was recently reignited following a viral tweet by Ryan Clark. “Chris Brown is more talented than Michael Jackson… there I said it! Have a great week,” the former NFL star tweeted, before social media took to the controversial statement.

@Chris Brown would have been second coming for mike if they stopped trying to stop him from a mistake he made years ago! Music, Mike is the greatest! And I think CB will agree! MJ & Lebron. They must be talking about hooping or rapping lol

This isn’t the first time Chris has drawn comparisons to his idol. In 2019, 50 Cent declared CB “better than MJ”.
Justin Bieber has also hailed his Don’t Check On Me collaborator, comparing Brown to a combination of Jackson and Tupac Shakur. “Everyone wants to wait for people to die to give them the honor they deserve,” Bieber said. “I call it now, when CB dies after a long, fulfilling life, you’re going to miss what you had in front of you all along… trust me, watch, you’ll see.”
During the Big Boy interview, Chris weighed a potential Verzuz again. In the past he has said that he is only interested in fighting himself, but that may have changed.
“I’ll keep it a hundred. I’ve been speaking to people so we might find out something, but I won’t say anything just yet,” he teased.
