The new music Friday is here again. A slew of projects have arrived, including a second album by an introspective Maryland rhymer, a new LP by a California wordsmith, and a fresh mixtape by a Harlem vet.
Cordae’s long-awaited second album,From a bird’s eye view, has arrived with a slew of notable guest posts. Eminem, Nas, Lil Wayne, Gunna and R&B soul legend Stevie Wonder are just a few of the artists featured on the LP. Hours before the album was officially released, Cordae posted a message to his fans on his Twitter. “So the album comes out tonight!” he wrote. “Every single song holds a significant place in my heart as they are all inspired by real life events, emotions and experiences. With that in mind, I urge you to listen to songs 1-12 (Shiloh’s intro- Wetake High). from top to bottom without pauses, jumps or breaks. As this is the way it should be heard, especially the first time. Because this is a complete work. Thank you for your ears and support. Cordae’s latest release, The Lost Boy, released in 2019.
Sliding down to the West Coast, there’s Earl Sweatshirt, who’s since turned in his first album Rapping some songs in 2018. The former Odd Future rhymer offered lead single “Tabula Rasa” featuring rap duo Armand Hammer about a month before the release ofIll! On the album Earl said: “Illis my humble offering of 10 songs recorded in the wake of the global coronavirus pandemic and subsequent lockdowns. Before the virus, I was working on an album that I named after a book I used to read with my mom (“The People Could Fly”). When lockdowns hit, people could no longer fly. A wise man said that art imitates life. People were sick. People were angry and isolated and restless. I leaned into the chaos because it was obvious it was going nowhere. These songs are what happened when I took a breath.”

Jimmy pulls through with 25 tracks on the robust project, which features guest appearances from Migos, Fabolous, Dave East, Fivio Foreign, Maino and more. Capo is also working on a new album rumored to be titledPrime 112, a nod to the Miami restaurant where the dipset rapper and his crew reportedly recently got into an altercation with Freddie Gibbs.
