Dr. Dre hasn’t published a project in six years, but that may change soon.
The rap icon is working on new music for them Grand Theft Auto Video game franchise, according to Snoop Dogg. Speaking to the Rolling Stone Music Now podcast, Dr’s longtime associate revealed that Dre is back in the lab making “great fucking music.”
“I know he’s in the studio,” said Snoop, who is also at the GTA Recording sessions. “I know he makes great damn music. And part of his music is related to that GTA Game that comes out. So I think his music is released this way, through the GTA Video game. ”
Dr’s last project was in 2015 Compton, inspired by the NWA biopic Straight from Compton. Earlier this year there were reports that he was reviving his misfortune detoxification Album after he was released from the hospital with a brain aneurysm.
In February, Aftermath producer DJ Silk showed a new Dre track with lyrics about his brain aneurysm and the widely publicized divorce from Nicole Young.
“Trying to kill me with these lies and this perjury,” Dre raps. “I see you try to fuck me while I’m in the operation / And intensive care unit, deathbed on some money shit / Greedy bitch, take a picture / girl you know how money comes.”
Speaking to DJ Khaled’s podcast “The First One”, Rick Ross also confirmed that the rap legend is cooking new music. “He’s working on his project, which is amazingly sonic,” he said. “I’ve never heard a n *** a so meticulous about those ad-libs and shit like that, but that’s what you have to love about Dre.”
