It’s over for Safaree Samuels and Erica Mena.
Less than two years after their marriage, the couple divorced. Mena officially filed to terminate the marriage in the Fayette County Supreme Court of Georgia last Friday, just weeks after it was announced they were expecting their second child together.
According to divorce papers received from TMZ, the Love & Hip-Hop star is seeking primary custody of her 1-year-old daughter Safire, but she is willing to share joint custody with Safaree. She also tries to maintain the children as well as the exclusive use of the house that they currently share.
Erica is currently pregnant with the couple’s second child. Over the weekend, Mena posted a pregnancy photo and she wasn’t wearing a wedding ring. She and Safaree have not been photographed together for a while.
The couple had their ups and downs, which were documented in “Love & Hip-Hop” and on social media. In November, Safaree indicated that he and his wife would be getting a divorce. “BACHELOR‼ ️ at the end of 2020 right‼ ️”, he captioned a photo while marking “divorce court”.
In a February tweet that has since been deleted, Safaree also described getting married as one of his “biggest mistakes”. “I mean, from the bottom of my heart, getting married was one of my BIGGEST mistakes, and it will never happen again,” he tweeted. “I’m leaving before I end up in jail for some stupid shit. Nobody is worth my freedom !!! “
Samuels, 39, and Mena, 33, began their relationship after meeting on the VH1 series “Scared Famous” in 2017 and married in October 2019. The following February, they welcomed their daughter Safire.
