Flavor Flav is fortunate enough to be alive after a near-fatal car accident.
The Public Enemy rapper was driving from Las Vegas to Los Angeles on Tuesday when the rain caused a boulder to tumble down a cliff in La Tuna Canyon and land on the right side of his car. According to TMZ, Flav briefly lost control of the vehicle as a result of the impact, but was able to bring it safely to the side of the road.
If he drove a few meters the other way, the boulder could have killed him. A motorist reportedly saw the accident and stopped to make sure Flav was safe.
“He is very fortunate to be alive and he realizes it was an extremely tight decision,” his manager told E! Messages. “It was a boulder about 5 to 6 feet in diameter.”
The 62-year-old Rock & Rock Hall of Famer was able to leave but is mentally upset. Speaking after the harrowing incident, he tells TMZ that he was “very close to death but very grateful to be alive”.
However, his car didn’t do that well. Photos from the accident show damage to the front and passenger side of the white Audi. Flav’s team called AAA after the accident to have the vehicle towed.
