Kendrick Lamar has finally returned with his new song The Heart Part 5.
K. Dot released the track Sunday evening (May 8) at 8:00 p.m. EST. This is his first solo joint since 2018 when he released the accompanying soundtrack to the filmBlack Panther.
Not only is this Kendrick Lamar’s first piece of music in a while, the new track comes days ahead of his highly anticipated new album Mr. Morale & the big stepperswhich next Friday, 13.
Ahead of today’s new sounds and Kendrick’s features with Keem in 2021, he had been on quite a long break from music with his last solo album.DAMN IT., out in 2017. It’s plausible that this new record could appear on Kendrick Lamar’s final Top Dawg Entertainment album, which was announced last summer. About six months ago, Kendrick announced that he was going to spread his wings and leave the TDE nest.
In a drafted letter shared via social media, the former 2011XXLFreshman wrote: “As I produce my final TDE album, I feel joy to have been a part of such a cultural imprint after 17 years. The fights. The success. And most importantly, the Brotherhood. May the Most High continue to use Top Dawg as a vessel for sincere creators. As I continue to pursue my calling.”
TDE CEO Anthony “Top Dawg” Tiffith co-signed the news of the end of Kendrick’s winning streak after nearly two decades on the label.
