As summer cruises continue, hip-hop is delivering some new vibes in the form of project releases. This time around, a moonman delivers a collection of his greatest hits, a respected spitter who helped put Buffalo, NY on the map releases his first mixtape of the year, one of the rap game’s favorite teen rappers releases a new EP and much more.
Before Kid Cudi embarks on his To the Moon world tour next month, he’s taking fans on a trip down memory lane with his greatest hits collection. The Boy Who Flew to the Moon, Vol. 1. The compilation features tunes from eight of his albums, beginning with his 2009 debut LP Man on the Moon: The End of the Dayand ends with three songs from the 2020s Man on the Moon III: The Chosen Ones. The only loose song on the LP is a bonus track called “Love”.
Ahead of the release, Cudder made a surprise announcement via Twitter on Monday (July 5) that he would be releasing a greatest hits LP. The Cleveland rapper posted the black and white cover artwork, which shows himself rocking a The North Face x Gucci jumpsuit, flannel shirt, trainers and sunglasses. In the caption, Cudi simply wrote “7/8”. The next day, he followed up with a tweet listing the LP’s tracklist along with a peace sign, a heart, and a rocket ship emoji.
In another tweet, Kid Cudi added that Vol. 2 will be out before the end of the year with more bonus tracks. “Vol 2 Best of is coming at the end of the year. I’ll try to add some more bonus sauce for you,” he wrote.
