Over two decades since their 1994 album was released My life, Mary J. Blige visits her most influential work in the documentary directed by Vanessa Roth Mary J. Bliges My life for Amazon Prime Video.
Produced by Sean “Diddy” Combs, the 82-minute film explores the “untold story” of the groundbreaking album, along with the demons and blessings that inspired the record and earned it millions of fans worldwide. The R&B icon is also celebrating its 25th anniversary with an appearance My life living for the first time.
“My life is probably my darkest album at one of the darkest times I’ve ever had, ”says Blige in the trailer. “Most of the time I was just depressed and didn’t want to live.”
The documentary also features commentary from friends such as Diddy, Taraji P. Henson, and Alicia Keys, while Quincy Jones is the executive record producer.
