YoungBoy Never Broke Again has released new music ahead of the release of his new mixtape, which is due out later this week. A second song has been delivered and it looks like YoungBoy might be aiming for NLE Choppa on the record.
On Tuesday (Jan. 18), NBA YoungBoy, who is currently under house arrest while awaiting trial on federal gun charges, released a new track titled “Know Like I Know.” And on this song, fans feel like there’s some underlying disses about NLE — especially in the first verse — that many have suspected the lyrics are referring to the Memphis rhymer who shared with Lil Reese about YB’s “Bring the Hook” matches. which apparently involved the death of King Von, and also the name of Von’s O-Block neighborhood in Chicago.
“I bet your mother will be destroyed/If we send your stupid ass to God/For statements, for side choice/About my beef with these little boys/I could say I saw it, you could say I was your favorite/ Better stay in your seat, bitch/fuck around and get your face split every day,” YoungBoy raps.
Last week, shortly after the release of “Bring the Hook,” Lil Reese – a Von’s contributor and Lil Durk’s, the head of Only The Family (OFT), the label Von was signed to before his death – commented on the track saying that YoungBoy “just rapped like the rest of these rappers they all rap”. NLE Choppa agreed with Reese, replying, “I stamp that.”
The YB song where he says, “Nigga, that is Squid Game, O block pound roll up / Murder what they told us / Atlanta boy get rolled up / Nigga get your hoes up, these bitches throw up green flags / Throw up that NBA, for me get ready to bust your ass/ And know I’m keeping this murder bag,” also caught the attention of Durk and King Von’s sister. So much so that they both appeared to react to the song via social media.
In the latest release from NBA YoungBoy, he also appears to have stung NLE Choppa’s herbal lifestyle. “I don’t give a fuck how you treat your body, I don’t give a fuck how you clean it,” he spat aggressively.
Choppa has been open about healthy living and promoting natural cures for illness. The former 2020XXL Freshman claimed to have cured someone of cancer and also says he has a natural alternative for women seeking Brazilian butt lifts.
Later in the track, YB seems to mention his ex-girlfriend Yung Blasian, who NLE reportedly dated a few years after YoungBoy and Blasian broke up.
Fans have commented on the song, with one person tweeting, “Bro Wen I heard Yb New Song TD I knew he was talking about @Nlechoppa1 I’m weak asf #NBAYUNGBOY #knowlikeiknow.”
Another person typed, “NBA YoungBoy talks about sending NLE Choppa to God,” and added a thinking face emoji.
A third Twitter user had a different take on the song, writing: “I don’t think nba youngboy diss @Nlechoppa1, I just think he’s telling him to stay out of shit unrelated to him , because it is not going to be a good result. He tells him he doesn’t care with whoever he wants, including his ex, it’s just not bro code.
This all comes days after NLE Choppa was confronted with someone claiming to be an NBA YoungBoy fan while walking through the airport. The confrontation quickly escalated into a physical altercation.
Still, the cause of the rift between the two artists is unclear.
Choppa once said that a native of Baton Rouge, La., was his favorite rapper. Things appear to have changed, however, as back in 2019 NLE, who at times also claimed he was signed to YB, lashed out at a fan for comparing him to NBA YoungBoy. But shortly thereafter, Choppa flipped YB’s record FREEDDAWG and made his own called Free Youngboy.
NLE Choppa did a radio interview that same year in which he stated that he neither knew nor spoke to NBA YoungBoy.
YoungBoy Never Broke Again’s “Know Like I Know” and “Bring the Hook” are likely to appear on his mixtapeColours due Friday (January 21).
