Nick Cannon continues to make his personal life public.
After serenading ex-wife Mariah Carey in his Valentine’s Day song “Alone,” the father of eight is open about whether or not he planned on having that many kids.
In conversation with Dr. Laura Berman on The Language of Love podcast asked him if “most of these pregnancies were unplanned.”
“I’ll never say that,” said Cannon, who says he takes “full responsibility” for fathering all of his children.
“Every woman I know who I have unprotected sex with has the potential to have a child,” he said, according to PEOPLE. “So I feel like I’m having unprotected sex with someone I know — because first of all, when I get to the point where I’m like, ‘I can take that condom off,’ I appreciate everything about me so much I’ll say, ‘She could be the mother of my child.’”
However, Cannon insists that who he has unprotected sex with is very important to him. “I’m the biggest germ freak in the world,” he said.
“With every woman I have a child with, there’s definitely a conversation of, ‘Wow, how great would that be?’ I feel like every woman I have a child with is a great mother and there was a thought process like, ‘man, she would be a great mother, she wants children, I can’t wait to see what kind of mother she is.'”
He continued, “So, saying that, I would say they are all planned.”
The daytime talk show host also shared his views on monogamy, saying he only considers himself or someone else “not single” if they are married.
“You can still make alliances without involving the government, where two people say, ‘We’re going for monogamy because we value it so much, we don’t want anyone to be part of this energy that we have,’ and I don’t feel like that’s healthy,” Cannon added. “I don’t think monogamy is healthy. I have the feeling that this falls into the realm of selfishness and personal responsibility.”
Earlier this week, Cannon made it clear he still has feelings for Carey, the mother of his 10-year-old twins, Moroccan and Monroe. He dedicated his song “Alone” to his ex while acknowledging his reputation.
“As much as I want you back / It’s probably better where you are / ‘Cause I’m still walking the streets / I’m still covered in sheets / I’ve got babies, models and singers and actresses who say that they are pregnant by me.” he sings.
In addition to his twins, Cannon is a father to 4-year-old Golden and 14-month-old Powerful Queen, whom he shares with Brittany Bell. He also has seven-month-old twins Zion Mixolydian and Zillion Heir with Abby De La Rosa.
In December, his 5-month-old son, Zen, whom he shares with model Alyssa Scott, died of brain cancer.
The Cannon family continues to grow. Last month he announced he was expecting his eighth child with model Bre Tiesi.
