Nicki Minaj is known for her many alter egos, and she’s about to introduce another one.
As she prepares for her fifth studio album, the rap queen revealed a new personality is on the horizon.
However, she hasn’t decided on a name yet. “I’ll find out,” she told fans on Instagram Live. “I listen and figure something out so that this new personality can have their own whole vibe.”
Nicki has previously featured alter egos like Harajuku Barbie, Chun-Li, Roman Zolanski, and Queen Sleeze, whom she described as “quiet but much deadlier.”
She also spoke about the 2018 sequel queen, which will mark a return to her roots. During an interview with The Dana Cortez Show, she was asked if fans can expect to hear “Mixtape Nicki” on the project.
“You have to get mixtape Nicki. I feel like that’s what’s needed right now,” she said.
While her life has changed a lot since the release of her debut mixtape Playtime is over Almost 15 years ago, Papa Bear’s mother has not forgotten where she came from.
“I still talk about it because that’s my real life that I experienced,” she added. “I need to talk about the Hood because that’s where we come from. I’m not going to start rapping about Beverly Hills because it’s not authentic to me.”
She admitted she’s in a great space and called it a moment that comes full circle. “I make music the way I made music when I first started rapping on my mixtapes, which means having a great experience, enjoying it, being present in the moment and seeing what happens.”
