Pete Davidson returned to the stage for his first show in three years on the first night of Netflix Is A Joke: The Festival.
During Thursday’s sold-out show at the Hollywood Bowl, the “SNL” star opened up about his strained relationship with Kanye West. According to Entertainment Tonight, Davidson opened his set by referring to the time Kim Kardashian’s ex allegedly started a rumor that Davidson had AIDS.
Davidson joked that he thought he had the deadly virus because Ye was “a genius.” He also reportedly joked that it’s “strange to be humiliated when there’s nothing you can do about it.”
Davidson was on the receiving end of West’s attacks after he began dating Kim amid the couple’s divorce. Ye threatened to “hit the ass” of Pete Davidson in his “Eazy” collaboration with The Game and detailed his kidnapping and funeral in the music video. He also targeted Davidson multiple times on social media.
Later in his stand-up set, Davidson further joked about Jack Harlow’s collaboration with West donda 2, but said he wasn’t upset about it despite his friendship with Harlow. However, he said that if his King of Staten Island If co-star Bill Burr went to Sunday service, it would be a different story.
The comedian also recalled going to a basketball game with Chris Rock in December 2021. “Before life was over,” he joked, noting that unfortunate things happened to both comics afterwards. For Rock it was Will Smith’s infamous slap in the face at the Oscars, while for Davidson it was cutting off his head in the “Eazy” video.
Ye has since stopped using social media and has stopped attacking Davidson after reports that he was “going off to get help.”
“Kanye has kept a low profile and focused on healing. He’s trying to move away from all the drama that’s happened between him and Kim,” a source told ET. “He’s focused on taking care of himself, getting healthier and breaking free from all the madness. He takes great care of his family and children. They are his top priority and he is working on himself.”
