R. Kelly faces further allegations of sexual assault.
New York federal prosecutors on Friday detailed a number of new allegations against the R&B singer dating back 30 years, including sexual abuse of a male minor in 2006.
The court record obtained from Page Six alleges that Kelly sexually abused the 17-year-old boy after meeting him at a McDonald’s in Chicago and asking “what he was willing to do to be successful in the music business”.
The teenager reportedly introduced Kelly to a second teenager, who was then 16 or 17 years old. A few years later, Kelly allegedly began a sexual relationship with the second John Doe, forcing several of his girlfriends, including an underage girl, to have sex with the young man while filming.
Prosecutors said a woman who is expected to testify claims that Kelly directed her to search the internet for “boy child pornography for him.” An authorized search on Kelly’s computer confirmed the claim, the court document said.
Other allegations on the file include illegal detention, hush money payments, threats and psychological abuse, and bribery.
Prosecutors allege Kelly had one of his employees pay an Illinois state employee $ 500 to create a fake ID for Aaliyah, then 15. The ID was used to obtain a marriage certificate so she couldn’t be forced to testify against him in court. The two married on August 31, 1994, but the marriage was annulled months later because of their age.
The 54-year-old singer, who protests his innocence, has been behind bars since his arrest in July 2019. He faces two charges in New York and Chicago of alleged abuse of girls and women over two decades. His trial in New York is slated to begin next month.
