Rod Wave was arrested for domestic violence.
The 23-year-old rapper, whose real name is Rodarius Marcell Green, was taken into custody on a warrant for domestic assault by strangulation, a spokesman for the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office said Tampa Bay Times.
According to his affidavit of arrest, police arrested Green Sunday evening (May 1) during a traffic stop in St. Petersburg, Florida. He was in the passenger seat of his gray 2021 Dodge Durango and was identified from his driver’s license photo.
He was checked into the Pinellas County Jail just after midnight. Green appeared to be documenting the moment he was stopped while driving in St. Petersburg. Police lights appear to be flashing behind him in an Instagram story.
Battery by strangulation is a third-degree felony with a maximum sentence of five years behind bars, five years probation and a $5,000 fine in the state of Florida, Complex reports.
