Snoop Dogg relives Tupac Shakur’s final days.
More than 25 years after Pac’s death, Snoop recalls what happened while visiting his friend in the hospital after he was shot in a drive-by shooting in Las Vegas in September 1996.
Speaking to Logan Paul’s Impaulsive podcast, Snoop said he drove to Suge Knight’s house after hearing about the shooting. Once there, Suge tried to comfort him by assuring him that Pac would make it.
But he didn’t realize the magnitude of the situation until he saw Pac himself. “We have a feeling everything will be fine until we go to the hospital and see it’s not fine. He’s got tubes in him,” said Snoop, passing out when he saw Pac.
“When I walked in I felt like he wasn’t even there and I passed out,” he revealed.
Pac’s mother, Afeni Shakur, told Snoop to break away and talk to Pac. “Then his mom picked me up and took me to the bathroom and talked to me about being strong. She said, ‘My baby has never seen you weak. I don’t want you to get weak in front of him. You go to the bathroom and get ready and go back in and talk to him and tell him how you feel. My baby loves you.’”
Tupac’s mother left them alone so that Snoop could speak to her son one last time. “She knew there was a little tension, but she knew how much we loved each other. So she gave us a moment so I could tell him a few things about how much I love him. But I knew this would be the last time I spoke to him.”
Pac died days later on September 7, 1996. He was 25 years old.
After the interview was published, some fans questioned Snoop’s story. “I love Snoop but his story keeps changing or adding to the stories all the time,” one Instagram user commented, while another was skeptical of his version of events. “I thought Snoop didn’t even make it to the hospital.”
During the interview, Snoop also shared a “cherished moment” with Kobe Bryant and revealed what happened on the set of Katy Perry’s video for her 2010 hit song “California Gurls.”
