The Weeknd has a new home.
The “Take My Breath” singer bought a Bel Air mansion for a whopping $ 70 million.
Corresponding The Wall Street Journal, the owners – Dutch media entrepreneur Reinout Oerlemans and his wife Danielle Oerlemans – said they had no plans to sell their house until The Weeknd agents contacted them thinking it would be perfect for the R&B star.
While the owners initially resisted, they eventually stopped by and sold the home in an off-market deal.
The 33,000 square meter property is located on approximately 1.6 hectares with a view of the Bel-Air Country Club, with nine bedrooms and amenities such as a sports field, a spa with sauna, indoor and outdoor pools, a cinema, a gym and a music studio. Additional features include a large living and entertainment area with gleaming orange walls and a black fireplace, a dining room with a fireplace, and a kitchen with copper cabinets and custom leather belt handles.
The house was recently renovated for three years by the Oerlemanses, who bought it for $ 21.44 million in 2015. They added about 13,000 square feet to the property to accommodate the spa and other amenities, and imported modern furniture for the interior.
The Weeknd also owns a penthouse in the Beverly West residential tower in LA, which it bought for $ 25 million in 2019. The 8,215 square meter high-rise is located on the 18th floor of the 22-story building and has four bedrooms and four bathrooms.
Earlier this year, he sold his Hidden Hills home to Madonna for $ 19.3 million. He bought the 12,500-square-foot mansion in 2017 for $ 18.2 million.
