The Weeknd is working on another trilogy.
Fresh from the release of Dawn FM, the XO superstar took to Twitter to reveal that his latest album is part of a trilogy.
“I wonder … did you know you were about to experience a new trilogy?” He asked his followers cryptically.
He didn’t provide any further information, but fans have theorized that the trilogy includes his 2020 album After business hours, Dawn FM, and a third album called After the livethat was teased on Dawn FM.
The track “Every Angel Is Terrifying” serves as an 80s-inspired promo for something called After the live.
“Intense, graphic, sexy, euphoric / provocative, edgy, thought-provoking,” says Abel. “An exciting synopsis / cinema like you’ve never seen it before / the exotic, bizarre and beautiful world of ‘After Life’.”
He adds, “After Life can be yours for as little as $ 4.95 with a subscription when you order the Best of Your Current Life collection series.”
This wouldn’t technically be The Weeknd’s first trilogy. In 2012 he released his trilogy Compilation consisting of remixed and remastered versions of his 2011 mixtapes House of balloons, Thursday, and Echoes of the silence.
Dawn FM, starring Lil Wayne, Tyler the Creator and Quincy Jones, was released on Friday with rave reviews from fans and critics. Timbaland compared it to Michael Jacksons thriller, while diversity declared it “possibly the best and best realized album by The Weeknd to date”.
