As expected, Uncle Murda released his version of “Rap Up 2021” and this iteration could be the most inflammatory yet, including a wild line about Lil Nas X.
The Brooklyn rapper released the annual (always controversial) track on New Years Day (January 1st). The song contains 14 minutes of Lenny speaking ruthlessly, “respectfully” and addressing everything that goes on in hip hop, urban and national news. Murda starts things with raised eyebrows. “Lil Nas X will get AIDS and die like Eazy-E / Hope, the LGBTQ doesn’t cancel me,” Murda raps. “When they tried to keep DaBaby from getting paid when he talked about giving each other AIDS.”
Nobody is safe on Murda’s newest track, which he also announced as NFT. During the long climax, he also talks about Drake and Kanye’s “fake” beef and the ultimate reunion, and Will Smith and Jada Pinkett-Smith talking about their relationship. “But don’t go to Instagram or call the police in. / If he kills her, she’ll go to heaven and let Pac beat him,” Murda rhymes.
Murda leaves no stone unturned and brings the Verzuz highlights from last year, 50 cents BMF Series, Freddie Gibbs alleged argument with Jim Jones, late rappers and more. “You all know that today is because today matters / Today is the day I disrespect a whole bunch of rappers / I don’t care who niggas settle down with, I hurt them when they clown out here- Shit? / Come on mane, “he raps in the chorus.
