Yeat is a relatively new rapper on the scene, but his New York concert was packed. All of his fans ducked during the setlist and there’s no doubt he’s only up from here. First, Yeat started his career as Lil Yeat in 2015. However, he deleted all his songs from the internet from that time. His official introduction didn’t come until 2018 when he released “Brink” on Elevator’s YouTube channel. He had his big break in 2021 on TikTok. So far he has released three studio albums and one EP, as well as one mixtape. His latest album was called Afterlyfepublished on February 24th. The name is a play on words for his EP, lyfe.
Yeat is currently touring America and visited New York last night. He was so popular there that there was hardly any room to stand, as the following clips show. Despite the lack of legroom, you could still have a good time.
Yeats music and fans
Yeat has spoken out in the past about using LSD to help him create his music, and it shows. The backing beats to his raps are very trippy and unusual. The best example of this is his use of a bell in some of his songs. His rapping and lyrics aren’t the best, despite what his fans say. It’s mostly mumble rap with lyrics that don’t make sense and seem like a train of thought rather than an actual decision to put them in. At one point in the song he might be rapping about crime, the next it might be about his tonka trucks. Nevertheless, his fans know the lyrics by heart and sang along with them during the concert.
Yeats fans are just as weird as his lyrics. They talk like they worship Yeat and his songs cured their cancer. It’s hard to tell if they’re just ranting or really like him that much. It’s especially difficult since he’s grown his fan base through TikTok, so they’re mostly very young and still figuring out how to interact online. Although most of them were young, there were still enough who were old enough to show up for the concert.
