There are three guarantees in life: death, taxes, and new music releases on Fridays. To wrap up this week, we get a compilation album from one of the South’s strongest labels, a new LP from one of the punchline kings of the rap game, and the debut album from a Brooklyn rhymer who came home from prison in 2020.
Yo Gotti has built one of the most impressive collections of young rap talent for CMG The Label. He’s flaunting his roster in full on the new compilation project gangsta art. Gotti officially announced the album on July 6 during an Instagram Live session attended by CMG’s Mozzy, Moneybagg Yo and EST Gee.
“Actually, I think it’s about time. Everyone keeps asking, you know, ‘When are we going to tour? When are we going to do a project together?’” he said. “I think it’s about time, man. All the songs we recorded together. All the long nights We have crazy, crazy, like crazy songs, so I think we should just dump the whole CMG project on these people, man. “
The album features a robust 27 tracks featuring the aforementioned CMG members, plus Blac Youngsta, 42 Dugg, BlocBoy JB, Big Boogie, Lil Poppa, Lehla Semia and newest signee Glorilla.
Lloyd Banks is still hungry for more. The Queen, NY Spitta releases his new album, The course of the inevitable 2 on all streaming platforms. Banks has been teasing the album since April and has given away previews of the project in the form of the singles “Menace” featuring Conway The Machine and “Fell in Love.”
Fourteen songs are on the album, which is the follow-up to The course of the inevitable that fell last June. The former G-Unit rapper takes up the offer of Jadakiss, Benny The Butcher, Dave East, Vado and Tony Yayo. To promote the album, Banks will perform tonight (July 15) at Sony Hall in New York City.
After serving a nearly six-year sentence and returning home in 2020, Rowdy Rebel is ready to release his debut album Rebel versus hooligan. The Brooklyn native’s actual introduction to the rap world is spearheaded by the singles “Woo Nina” and “Rowdy vs. Rebel.” It’s been a bumpy ride for the Bobby Shmurda offshoot, which lost momentum in 2014 when he was arrested along with members of the GS9 gang and jailed for half a decade. The LP is a kind of salvation.
“Life is a marathon and a journey,” Rowdy wrote on Instagram of the album. “I have overcome [sic] from which most people would fall. I’m excited to release my very first album of my career “Rebel vs Rowdy” which will be released on 07/15. This one for NY and all the real ones.”
