The hip hop community makes sure you never disappoint when Friday approaches the new music. This week there is a highly anticipated album from the head of the Young Stoner Life Records label, a work by a rap legend from Georgia and his crew, and an EP from a cheeky Houston spitter.
Young Thug releases his second album,punk. After announcing the offer during his punk rock-inspired NPR Tiny Desk performance in July by wearing a shirt that drew on the LP’s release date, the project has arrived. Thugger has been working on the album for two years. Today the cover inspired by the work Forever Always by the famous painter Octavio Ocampo was unveiled. Before the arrival of the LP, the Atlanta native demolished a Rolls-Royce with his protégé Gunna and also gave Lyft drivers a first listen. The album has 20 tracks and features guest appearances from Drake, J. Cole, Future, Travis Scott, Gunna, Mac Miller, Juice Wrld, and more. Thug’s latest album was his compilation project,Slime language 2, which involved its YSL artists.
Gucci Mane is back with another one. Guwop drops his latest collaboration,So icy boyz. The latest release of the label 1017 Records includes a total of 17 tracks and includes Big Scarr, the currently imprisoned rhymes Pooh Shiesty and Foogiano and much more. Gucci first shared the comics-inspired album cover with him and his Trap Avengers earlier this month. The ATL-bred rapper turned record label boss dropped hisSo Icy Gang, Vol. 1 Compilation last year.
H-Town’s own KenTheMan delivers their new EP,What’s My Name. The up and coming MC with flammable bars is keeping it for their town on the 10-track extended play that includes productions from Bankroll Got It, Trakk Sounds and more, as well as their latest single, “Rose Gold Stripper Pole”. Last year KenTheMan released their debut EP,4 da 304, a project that received positive reviews and praise from their peers.
