Zoë Kravitz expresses her disapproval of Will Smith’s slap at the Oscars.
On Instagram on Tuesday the Batman The actress addressed the controversial incident with her captions for two photos.
“Here’s a picture of my dress at the show where we seem to be attacking people on stage,” Kravitz wrote alongside a picture of himself walking the red carpet at Sunday’s awards shows.
Without naming Smith, she threw more shade into another caption of herself at the Vanity Fair Oscar after-party. “And here’s a picture of my dress at the party after the awards show — where we’re obviously now yelling obscenities and attacking people on stage,” she added.
Smith beat Chris Rock at the Academy Awards after the comedian made one GI Jane 2 Joke about his wife Jada Pinkett Smith who suffers from hair loss caused by alopecia. Smith warned Rock, “Keep my wife’s name out of your damn mouth!”
He later formally apologized to Rock. “My behavior at the Oscars last night was unacceptable and inexcusable. Jokes at my expense are part of the job, but a joke about Jada’s health was too much for me and I reacted emotionally,” he said. “I want to publicly apologize to you, Chris. I was out of line and I was wrong.”
In the course of the argument, others spoke out against it King Richard Star, including Stephen A. Smith and Jim Carrey, who said he was “sick” when he saw Smith’s colleagues give him a standing ovation after he won the Oscar for best actor.
“I would have announced this morning that I’m suing Will for $200 million because this video will be there forever. It’s going to be ubiquitous,” Carrey told Gayle King. “This insult will last a very long time.”
Smith received support from his son Jaden, Tiffany Haddish, DaBaby and Nicki Minaj, who were sympathetic to the Smith family.
“You just have to experience in real time what’s going on in a man’s soul when he looks over at the woman he loves and sees her holding back tears because she made a ‘little joke’ at her expense,” wrote the “We Go Up” rapper. “It’s what every real man feels in that moment. While you all see the joke, he sees her pain.”
